Alyssa Hall, harp
Alyssa Hall is a harpist and educator based in Greensboro, North Carolina. Alyssa serves as music faculty at Brooklyn Arts Music Academy in Wilmington, NC, Methodist University in Fayetteville, NC and at Snyder Music Academy, where she teaches harp, piano, and voice. She is a D.M.A candidate in harp studying with Andrea Mumm Trammell at the University of North Carolina at Greensboro, where she was named recipient of the Adelaide Fortune Holderness Fellowship. Alyssa earned her M.M. from the Hartt School at the University of Hartford, where she studied with Susan Knapp Thomas, and her B.M. from Methodist University where she studied with Winifred Garrett. While in New England, Alyssa freelanced with numerous ensembles, including the Yale University Wind Ensemble, the Waterbury Symphony, and Foot in the Door contemporary music ensemble. Since her return to NC, she has appeared with the Fayetteville Symphony, the Augusta Symphony, and the Carolina Philharmonic, among many other wonderful groups. She also maintains a busy solo performance schedule, playing for weddings and other special events in addition to her orchestral and chamber work. She and her lovely colleague, Chloe Li, comprise the harp-violin duo, Gate City Strings, and they enjoy sharing repertoire for this instrument pairing with the greater Greensboro area. When she is not teaching or practicing, Alyssa enjoys distance running and being a hazard in the kitchen by experimenting with new recipes.
