Friends of BAMA Membership Program

The Brooklyn Arts Music Academy is the premiere educational and classically based music school in the Cape Fear region. BAMA prepares students to pursue a successful music career and enjoy a life-long love of music. Since opening in 2018, more than 150 children and adults have studied with our faculty, played in concerts, formed new friendships, and discovered that music touches the heart and mind.

The Friends of BAMA members make it possible for new deserving students to become a part of the BAMA family. The Friends of BAMA membership program, offered at just $35 a year for a family or single member, bolsters funding for day-to-day operations allowing the Board of Directors and Executive Directors to focus on securing grant funding, special gifts, and patrons for the school. In the past four months, grant funds have been secured to offer the Music is Life! program in every Head Start classroom at Dorothy B. Johnson pre-kindergarten beginning in September 2021. The weekly music classes, designed and provided by Christina Brier and Linda Estep, introduce young children to music, movement, and rhythm and give them the opportunity to touch and play a quality string instrument in a safe and nurturing environment. Data show that exposure to music can help counteract a child’s Adverse Childhood Experiences (ACEs), and we want to help with this early intervention.
